Before it’s too late Before It’s Too Late

All things come to those who wait
Sometimes they just come too late
And if we never speak again
I don’t wanna make that mistake

Staring through the crowded dance floor of the night club, his gaze fell on her. Her hair was flowing over her shoulders, occasionally she would swish it from side to side as she danced with her friends. He raised himself up slightly in his seat when he saw some guy he didn’t recognise approach her, clearly asking for a dance. He gritted his teeth slightly as he watched her dance close with him, feeling himself getting jealous and wishing it was him she was dancing so close with.

He stared intently at her, not caring if she caught him staring or not. So far, she’d not looked his way once, never making eye contact and staying on the other side of the club. He hated this, not being able to do what he wanted to do, say what he wanted to say and having to watch her dance with other people like he didn’t exist.

“Will you stop staring…” The voice next to him, said in a loud whisper, loud enough for his friend to hear him. “No…” He replied, “I want to make sure no one tries anything with her” “What does it matter to you if someone tries something on with her?” asked his friend. “It matters to me” He snapped back, draining the last of his drink and glaring at his friends. “Well why don’t you go and talk to her?” asked, almost sensing what his friends reply was going to be, he spoke again, “And don’t say it’s not the right time or place, you say that ever single time you see her”

“I agree with , I think you should go and tell her, get it over with” joined in. “Maybe they’re right, shrugged his shoulders, as looked expectantly at him, wanting at least one person to take his side.

We never seem to find
The place or time
To say what’s on ours minds so

slammed his empty glass on the table and stood up, he made his way through the crowded V.I.P area towards the bar. Keeping a close eye on her the entire time he leant on the bar and waited to be served.
Sensing someone was next to him let out a sigh, trying to guess which one of his friends had followed him over to the bar. Keeping his eyes focused on her, he decided to ignore the presence next to him and just concentrate on her. Her figure hugging jeans clung to her curves and he felt his jeans suddenly becoming a little tighter.

“Getting drunk isn’t gonna fix anything y’know” glanced to his right as he heard ’s voice over the loud music.
He turned his head back to the dance floor and took a long drink of alcohol, “You don’t know that” replied with a shrug of his shoulders, resuming his watch over her.
“Of all the girls here tonight, why her?” asked, signalling for the bartender to give him another beer, “Why is it always her you watch? Yet you never talk to her”

let out a sigh and for the first time that night he allowed his eyes to roam around the rest of the club. It was just as he’d expected, most of the girls on the dance floor were barely wearing anything. Short skirts and low cut tops that left virtually nothing to the imagination. They knew what they were doing as they danced as seductively as they could, and they knew that their clothes drew the attention of every man in the club.

He rolled his eyes as a few of them kept glancing towards him and , and then whispering amongst themselves. He knew exactly what they were thinking and this time two years ago he’d probably be taking one of them back to his hotel room. But he was a different person now, she’d made him change and he didn’t want to go back to his old lifestyle.

“Look at them, they’re only out to see which celebrity they can bed. You know the type” sighed, his eyes resting on her again. He smiled to himself, she was the complete opposite of all the girls he wanted to avoid. “Yeah, I know the type but you probably know that type better than I do” pointed out, reminding just how he used to live. “Well…I’ve changed” shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t want meaningless one nightstands anymore. I could never go back to that life, I want to be happy and I want her, no…I need her to make me happy. I love her

Grabbing his drink stood up straight and moved into ’s line of sight, blocking his view of her, “You know what you have to do then. She’s only over there, just go and tell her” He urged his friend.

I don’t wanna wake up one day
Wondering if I shied away
From something that once seemed so hard
One thing that’s so simple to say

nodded his head, he knew was right but why was it so hard for him to tell her? A few simple words, that was all it was. A few simple words and he’d stand a chance at finally being happy. He’d have the woman he’d fallen in love with and a real chance at being happy with her by his side. All he had to do was tell her.

Shaking his head he took another drink, his friends words of advice going through his head as he continued to watch her. He longed for her to just look at him, just once. If he could make eye contact it would probably help him to work up the courage to go over to her, or it would give him his answer and he would forget all about her.

Ordering another drink, he momentarily turned his back on her and when he turned around a few moments later, she was gone from the dance floor. He panicked as he peered over the crowded club, desperately searching for her. Finally, he relaxed as he saw making her way off the dance floor, towards the bar. Towards him. Panicking once again he quickly turned around, not wanting to be face to face with her while he looked like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. He needed to compose himself.

Why do you always hide
Your tears when you cry?
Isn’t it time you try to

“Vodka red bull, please” He heard her ordering a drink while she stood practically by his side. He turned his head to look at her, sighing when she didn’t even look his way. He may as well have been invisible to her, she never paid him any attention and he knew he had to make the first move. “Hi…” He smiled at her as the bar tender placed her drink down in front of her. She turned her head to look at him, “Hey…” She answered, though she sounded uninterested and quickly left him after paying for her drink.

Letting out a sigh he shook his head, turning around as he followed her with his eyes. Watching her walk away back to her group of friends. Knowing he needed to do something he grabbed hold of his drink and knocked it back in one go. The alcohol made him feel suddenly braver than he actually was and he left some money on the bar and made his way through the crowded dance floor towards her.
Tapping her on the shoulder he waited for her to turn around, “Can I talk to you, please?” He asked, his eyes pleading with her.
“Can it wait? She’s busy” looked as a man slid his arm round her waist and smiled back at him, he recognised him as the same guy that had been dancing so close with her earlier.

glared at him, staring at the way he touched her and feeling his anger start to build up. Ignoring the man next to her he turned his attention back to her, “Please? She nodded her head and walked off the dance floor, finding the door leading outside to the smoking area. walked out behind her, taking a long breath to try and calm his nerves.

“So talk…” She shrugged her shoulders and folded her across her chest. “, I love you” He smiled, inching closer towards her. “I know you do , but that’s not gonna work on me this time” She replied, desperately trying to remain emotionless, “You really hurt me, y’know”
The words from their last argument rang in her ears, the things he’d said about her, and the things he’d called her. It had hurt, like nothing she’d ever felt before. There was no way she was going to just forget it and come running back to him.
“For god sake , can’t we just forget it? I miss you and I hate that you wont talk to me” cried out, annoyed at how this conversation was turning out.
Shaking her head she went to walk past him, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to him. His lips crashed upon hers and he held her tightly, hoping that she’d respond to his kiss. He smiled against her lips when he finally felt her kiss him back, loosening his grip on her as he cupped her face with one hand and ran his fingers through her hair with the other.

Lost in the kiss, she suddenly realised what she was doing and pushed away from her, “It wont work this time, ” She shook her head as she slowly backed away from him, “I wont let you treat me like shit anymore. Goodbye”

…please, don’t walk away” pleaded as she turned her back on him and walked back inside.
headed back into the club after her, spotting her about to leave out the front entrance with her friends. The man he’d seen her with was no where in sight, thankfully. Pushing his way through the crowd he followed after her, knowing it was stupid to leave through the front doors instead of the back, like they usually did but he didn’t care anymore.
Finally making it through the crowd he pushed open the doors only to see her about to step into a taxi, “!” He shouted, causing everyone to look at him, including her.

She stopped by the taxi as ran towards her, instructing her friends to carry on and closing the door to the car as it drove away leaving her and stood outside the busy club. “I’m sorry…” He mumbled, staring at the floor.

“What? Did you say something?” She asked craning her neck towards him. let out an annoyed sigh and raised his head to look at her, “I said…I’m sorry” He repeated. A small spread over her face, “Sorry, . I still can’t hear you. You’ll have to speak up” Shaking his head from side to side, knew exactly what she was doing and laughed to himself, “I’m sorry, ok? I, , am sorry” He shouted this time, drawing even more attention towards them.
Grabbing the collar of his shirt, she kissed him forcefully, past caring that they had an audience and letting herself get lost in his touch. They’d only been apart for a week but it had felt like the longest week of her life. Finally pulling away she nipped his bottom lip in-between her teeth before kissing him again, leaving her arms wrapped around his neck, “Was that so hard to say?” “Will you come back home now?” He asked, ignoring her comment. “Of course I will” She smiled, taking his hand in hers and leading him to a waiting taxi, “Next time, saying sorry won’t work” “There won’t be a next time…” assured her, giving the driver their address.
pulled her closer to him and wrapping his arm around her, he kissed her firmly and with passion. Promising himself that he would never give her a reason to leave him again.
