Close your eyes Close Your Eyes

Tomorrow morning I have to leave
But wherever I may be
Best believe I’m thinking of you
I can’t believe how much I love you

I place my suitcase down by the front door and walk into the living room, she’s sitting there staring out into the back garden. She doesn’t want me to leave and nor do I want to go but I have to. “?” I say, trying to get her attention, she turns and looks at me, “I’ve got an early flight tomorrow morning, you coming to bed?”
She nods her head and gets up off the sofa, I can see the sadness in her face as she walks across the room to me and wraps her arms around my neck, “I’m going to miss you” She tells me, her voice is quiet and sad.
I nod my head, no words can express how much I’m going to miss her so I gently lean forwards and brush my lips against hers. The kiss is soft and tells her exactly how I feel about her.
“I wish I could come with you” She tells me, her arms still round my neck and mine resting on her waist.
One of my hands moves to her pregnant stomach and I let it rest on the bump, she’s nearly 9 months gone and was told it was best for her not to fly anywhere.

All we have is here tonight
We don’t want to waste this time
Give me something to remember
Baby put your lips on mine

And I'll love you forever
Anytime that we find ourselves apart

I take her hand in mine and switch the lights off downstairs as we climb the stairs towards our bedroom. I slowly and tenderly undress her and we both climb into bed, we lie facing each other. Knowing we don’t need to rush, knowing we’ve got all night. I pull her close to me and we kiss again, slowly and tenderly.
“I’m going to miss you too” I whisper in the dark room as I run my hand across her cheek, “We’ve been apart longer than a week, though. It’ll be fine, we can do it”
She nods her head and wraps her arms around me, pulling me close to her, “I know” She says with a sad smile, “I love you”
I smile at her and push a strand of hair out of her face, “I love you too”

Just close your eyes
And you'll be here with me
Just look to your heart
And that's where I'll be
If you just close your eyes
Till your drifting away
You'll never be too far from me
If you close your eyes

I wake early the next morning and watch her sleep soundly next to me, I glance over at the alarm clock and realise I still have just over an hour before I have to get up. The sunlight creeps through the gap in the curtains and illuminates her face. It’s a beautiful spring morning and would be perfect for a romantic walk in the park, seeing all the bright yellow daffodils as they start to bloom just in time for Easter. I turn on my side and sigh, knowing that today’s plans don’t include a walk in the park with my wife. I lie as still as I can and just watch her, taking in every single detail of her face. She slowly opens her eyes and looks at me, a smile on her face.
“Morning…” She whispers.
I lean close to her, our lips meeting softly, “Morning” I smile back.
“Almost time for you to leave” She reminds me with a sad sigh.
I nod and run my hand down her face, “It wont feel like we’re miles apart though, every time I miss you I’ll just close my eyes and imagine this. Us lying in our bed, in our house” I tell her softly, “So every time you miss me, do the same and it’ll feel like we’re together”
She’s nods and presses her body impossibly closer to mine, I hold her and we both close our eyes. We take in everything about the moment, making sure that every single detail of the moment is etched in our minds.

I know I'm gonna see you again
But promise me that you won't forget
Cause as long as you remember
A part of us will be together
So even when you're fast asleep
Look for me inside your dreams
Keep believing in what we're sharing
And even when I'm not there to tell you

I'll, I'll love you forever
Anytime that I can't be where you are

I see a car pull up outside our house and let out a slight sigh, I don’t want to leave but I know I have to. I have responsibilities with the band and I can’t let the others down.
I turn to and smile sadly, “Time to leave…” I tell her.
She moves closer to me and wraps her arms around my neck, we stare into each others eyes for what seems like hours.
“Make sure you phone me when you land” asks, I nod my head, “And before you go to bed and when you get up in the morning”
I laugh at her, “I promise, I’ll even phone you in-between interviews”
She smiles at me and we kiss again, I pull away from her embrace and stare right into her eyes, “Don’t forget…whenever you’re missing me, just close your eyes” I tell her, running my hand through her hair.
She nods her head and I give her one last kiss before picking up my bag and heading out of the front door towards the waiting car.

Just close your eyes
And you'll be here with me
Just look to your heart
And that's where I'll be
If you just close your eyes
Till your drifting away
You'll never be too far from me
If you close your eyes

watched sadly as the car drove away, she missed him already and he hadn’t even left the street let alone the country. She walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa, trying to get herself comfortable in her pregnant condition. She rests her head on the back of the sofa and closes her eyes, picturing them both lying in bed together just as he’d told her to do. A smile slowly spreads across her face and for a brief moment she forgets that he’s not actually here with her.

Is there anywhere that far?
Anytime you're feeling low
Is there anywhere that love cannot reach?
Oh no
It could be anywhere on earth
It could be anywhere I'll be
Oh baby if you want to see

The week had passed by quickly, they had both been in constant contact at every opportunity and had found closing her eyes and imagining them both lying in bed together had really helped her over the past week. But today he was due home, in less than an hour to be precise. had prepared a romantic dinner for them both pending his return home and was now waiting for him. She looked at her watch realising he was late, then checked her phone for any missed calls or texts but there was none. She even tried to ring his phone but it rang out and then finally went straight to his voice mail. Her concerns grew as the hours passed, her phone ringing caused her to jump and with shaky hands she answered the unfamiliar number.
“…I’ll be right there” She said, wide eyed.

Just close your eyes
And you'll be here with me
Look to your heart
That's where you'll be
Just close your eyes
Till your drifting away
You'll never be too far from me

She stared at her husband lying in the hospital bed, he was in a coma and on life support. She sat down next to his bed, tears rolling down her face as she took his lifeless hand in hers. The doctor told her it had been a car accident and that he’d be lucky to make it through the night. She’d zoned out when he’d explained the extent of her husbands injuries, her mind fixated on the fact that he might never wake from his coma and that he might never get to hold his daughter for the first time. She gripped his hand tightly, leaning her head back on the chair she closed her eyes and tried to tune out the beeps of the machines. She thought about one of the last things he’d said to her, “…Just close your eyes”
Her eyes shot open as the noises from the machines got louder, several nurses and doctors rushed into his room pushing away from his side.
?” Her voice was trembled with emotion as she watched on helpless, “Please don’t leave us,
