Just my imagination Just My Imagination

Swerving his way through the crowded coffee shop found an empty table and sat down, glancing around he smiled when he saw her serving someone a cup of coffee. A waitress came over and took his order, his usual black coffee and a blueberry muffin, he smiled politely at the young woman and gazed back over to her. Her hair was tied up, out of her face as she tried to tackle the morning rush of people on their way to work, needing a coffee fix before their busy day.

He watched her for a while longer, chatting to some of the regular customers and laughing along with whatever they were saying to her. He wished he could be near her to share whatever joke she was laughing at just to hear her laugh, her laugh was one of his favourite sounds and he loved watching how her face lit up when she smiled. Finally she looked over at him and he was granted with a small shy smile from her, he returned the gesture as his coffee and muffin were placed down in front of him.

When he looked back at her she’d turned her attention back to the customers in front of her. sipped his coffee as he studied her features, features he never tired of gazing upon and he felt his heart pound in his chest at the sight of her. It was how he always felt whenever he was around her or when he was thinking about her. He just hoped that she felt the same way about him, that her heart sped up whenever he was near her.

He frowned at her as he watched her serve a young man, he was obviously flirting with her and hated it. He could tell she wasn’t interested and this put him at ease as he watched her smile politely back at the man. He could always tell so much about her just by her smile, she had so many different smiles and each one told him something different about her. The smile she was now showing was her typical work smile, it was polite but her face didn’t light up like it did when she smiled at him.

He laughed quietly to himself as the man turned and walked away, an annoyed look on his face. smirked at the man as he passed by, glad that she’d turned him down. He hated the thought of anyone coming between them, he didn’t know what he would do without her.

Don’t let another take her love from me, or I will surely die.

continued to observe her at work as he nursed his now cold cup of coffee, the morning rush was finally coming to an end and he knew she’d be taking a well earned break as soon as it was. A waitress stood in front of him and he shook the thoughts from his head as he turned his attention to the young woman now stood in front of his table. Ordering a fresh cup of coffee, his gaze once again landed on her.

He smiled to himself as thoughts of their future together, bombarded his mind. He thought about the first time he would tell her he loved her, he still hadn’t managed to work up the courage to tell her but he knew how he felt about her. He’d been trying to come up with the perfect way to tell her and make it the most romantic moment of her life.

He allowed his imagination to run wild as he thought about how he would propose to her, like him she loved the beach and he knew that would be the perfect place to ask her the most important question of her life. There was no doubt in his mind that she wouldn’t accept his proposal but he wanted to make sure he wasn’t moving too fast for her.

Of course the wedding would be equally as perfect as the proposal, on a beach in the Caribbean. Somewhere really exotic, with only their family and close friends present. The service would take place just as the sun was setting, the glow of vibrant orange and red would illuminate the sky but would never compare to her beauty.

Sitting with a stupid smile on his face, barely noticed the waitress place his fresh cup down in front of him. He was too lost in his thoughts of what the future held for him and . He finally realised someone was standing in front of him and smiled gratefully at the waitress as she wondered off to serve another table.

Thoughts of her telling him she was pregnant invaded his mind he returned to his vivid day dream. Would their first child be a boy or a girl? He didn’t care as long as it was healthy and shared her smile. He hoped they’d have a few more children, he didn’t want a large family but he would like at least two, maybe three.

They’d move to a large house near the shore line of , so they could always be near the beach and the ocean. He’d teach their kids how to surf, his other passion in life apart from her. He’d not lose his temper if they couldn’t do it or they showed no interest in it, he’d simply teach them whatever they wanted to learn. His families happiness was all that mattered to him.

This couldn’t be a dream for too real it all seems…

The small coffee shop finally quietened down as the early morning rush ended and everyone made their way to work, he looked around the coffee shop hoping that maybe she’d join him on her break but couldn’t see her anywhere. Feeling a little down heartened that she’d not taken her break at her usual table he allowed himself to smile.

Checking his watch he frowned as he realised he was late, finishing his coffee he took one last look around for her. Grabbing his jacket from the back of his chair, he swung it on and zipped the zipper up. His eyes scanned the coffee shop for one last time as he walked towards the exit.

A wide smile appeared on his face as he finally spotted her, she was stood behind the counter, wiping it with a cloth. She looked up and their eyes met. Stopping what she was doing, she raised her hand and gave him a small wave as she smiled shyly at him. He returned her smile and waved back at her, pushing the door open as he left. Deciding that tomorrow, he would finally say hello to her.

But in reality she doesn’t really know me…

It was just my imagination running away with me
