lyrics; Wicked Way by Waylon
There's a song in my head and it's looking for a way to get out
out of all of the things inside, this one is screaming out loud
Leaning back in the soft leather couch, tipped back his bottle of beer and swallowed as the liquid poured into his mouth. He seemingly casual pulled up a leg and rested his ankle on his knee, but his insides were a restless mess. His eyes rested on the dance floor one level below, the open circle in the centre of the VIP-lounge provided a clear look at the mass of people gyrating their bodies in time to the stamping beat. But had no eye for the masses, his eyes rested solemnly on the woman standing on one of the blocks that sided the DJ-boot. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun and bounced to the music as her head bobbed from left to right. Her face was lit up with a constant smile that made the corners of his mouth lift. As he lowered his eyes, a black haltertop came into view. It was laced at the edges, drawing attention to her chest. Not that his eyes wouldn’t have landed there anyway. Shuffling uncomfortably on the couch he switched his legs and let his eyes travel further down. As he did, she turned round in her dancemoves and rolled her backside trough his view. Clad in a tight pair of light-grey skinny jeans, the view was a pleasant one. Underneath she wore a pair of high heels, making her long legs appear even longer. It took all of his will-power not to reach down and re-adjust himself.
‘Great night, ey?’
finally broke his stare as landed beside him and he nodded at his bandmate, not able to utter a word.
‘We’re heading out in twenty minutes though, early morning tomorrow.’ continued, not even noticing ’s lack of response, ‘Twenty minutes, ‘s okay?’ Not even waiting for an answer, got back up to make the most of the rest of the night. Before he was out of sight, stared back down. Twenty minutes, it’d have to do.
These words on my mind, I'm trying to understand what they mean
and I feel them coming, it's gonna knock you right of of your feet
As soon as he made his way downstairs, let his eyes roam the dancefloor once more. Instantly he noticed the girl he’d been staring at before, had left the blocks and he stretched out to be able to look over the crowds of dancing people to find her. Locking eyes with the subject of his desire, he made his way over to the other side of the floor. He swallowed hard before reaching out and grabbing her hand. In one swift move he had her over to a secluded corner, his heart contracting as a giggle escaped her.
‘Whatcha doing, ?’ her soft voice sounded teasingly and he found himself leaning closer. ‘You know full well what I’m doing.’ he managed to utter hoarsely before pressing his lips up against hers. Desperately he tried to get a kiss going but before he could get it started, her hands were at his chest, pushing him away gently.
‘Don’t.’ Though soft, her voice was stern and there was no way could go on with what he wanted to do. Instead he just let all the tension he felt escape with a deep sigh. For a moment he was lost for thoughts till he was brought back by reality by her fingers touching his face carefully.
‘Don’t sulk, gorgeous.’
‘I’ve just been wanting to kiss you all night, d’you have any idea how hard it is for me to watch you from afar, not being able to hold you, kiss you. Heck, I can’t even go and talk to you.’ he let out in an annoyed whisper.
‘Sure you can come over and talk, why wouldn’t you?’ Her fingers were still stroking his face and found it hard to be mad, being so close to her. It was hard to be mad at her alltogether, every time he saw her he just had to smile. His heart would lift, flutter trough his body and threaten to spill out. That was exactly why he knew he couldn’t go over and talk to her.
‘The lads would be able to tell... Heck, the whole world would be able to tell I want you. You were the one that wanted this to stay a secret, .’
At his words, she pecked a little kiss to his nose, ‘I just need a little time.’
sighed again and leaned his forehead against ’s. He stared deep into her eyes, eyes that made him forget the rest of the world and he knew he could do nothing but grant her wishes. He allowed her to pull back from him and watched her walk away.
Oooh cause I always see your sunshine,
it keeps on following me
Not a cloud in the sky
cause you're always right next to me
‘No way!’ threw back her head in laughter at the story was telling her, ‘And what did he say to that?’ she managed to get out.
‘Nothing, he was gobsmacked. What would ya expect, he’s male after all.’ grinned, earning a well aimed poke in the side by followed by a loud, ‘Watch your mouth, missy!’ doubled over, tears running from her eyes.
‘That could’ve hurt, !’ she hiccuped making laugh hard again. glared a daring glare while he leaned over to her,
‘You laughing at me?’
Another burst of laughter came out of while she tried to shake her head. Meanwhile came closer and in one quick move, snatched a foot from the floor. Before she knew it, her heels were on the ground and ’s fingers tickeled under her foot.
‘No!’ she let out in a loud squeal knowing full well had found her weakness. She was extremely ticklish and he had no mercy. No matter how hard she tried to break free, held a firm hand on her leg and foot, making it impossible to escape.
‘, help!’ she yelled out and smiled at her words. Moments like these were the hardest, the usual banter between friends. He felt like walking on eggshells all the time, afraid to do something wrong, say something that made the others suspect. He knew her reasons for not wanting what they had to be public yet he found it hard to keep it that way. He just wanted to be with her all the time and that was impossible this way. If only she could trust him completely but he knew he had to earn her trust and it took time. It didn’t help that he was a public figure, at times like these he really hated the fame that came with being in Westlife. He was certain she wouldn’t have kept him at a distance if the whole world wasn’t involved in it. But to give up all of that, that was just too much and he knew it. And it wasn’t what she wanted either. In his desperate moments he had told her he was willing to give up his carreer to be with her but she made it very clear she had nothing against his carreer. She just didn’t want to be the upteenth fling that the magazines wrote about and he respected that. Deep down he knew he only had himself to blame for being so casual with girls in the past. Yet this was different, she wasn’t just a fling. And in the past four months they’d been sneaking around he felt this was something to last. Time, all it needed was time.
‘!’ her high screams sounded again and he grinned as he saw her squirming in her seat, still had a firm grip on her foot. ‘Please, help me!’
She was worth the wait.
I'll do you no wrong, maybe I should just let it be
cause I know you're gonna have
Your wicked way with me,
your wicked way with me
‘Shouldn’t you be getting some sleep?’
felt a deep blush spread over her cheeks as ’s voice suddenly boomed behind her. Quickly she turned on the spot to come eye to eye with him. Before leaving her own hotelroom she had securely checked the hallway to see if there was anyone about but since it seemed empty she’d sneaked out. Judging to ’s cheeky grin, he’d caught her out and for a moment she felt like all secrets were out on the table.
‘I erh... I was just on my way to get some ice.’ she thought of the quickest excuse she could. ‘Right.’ nodded and for a moment relief flooded trough her. That was, untill he continued, ‘And you’ll be carrying it in what? Your shirt? That should be quite the sight.’
The blush was right back. ‘I knew I forgot something.’ she quickly said, setting up her best pokerface, ‘I’d better head back to fetch that bucket, thanks.’ Another quick move and she walked away from hoping to escape his knowing look.
‘You don’t have to pretend, you know.’ he called after her, making stand still. ‘It’s not like we all don’t know you and are shagging each other.’
Slowly turned to stare gobsmacked at a grinning . ‘I’m not, we’re not shagging each other.’ she managed to get out her words to deny his accusation.
‘Right. Well, you’re not this very minute but had I not caught you out here, you would be. Come on, , who do you think you’re kidding?’
‘I... I just... I...’ she stumbled, not knowing where to look.
‘You know what, don’t. Really, everyone with half a brain can spot you fancy each other a mile off. Why wouldn’t you just go with it?’
‘You just don’t understand, . , he’s... I...’ she tried again but words failed to come out of her mouth the way she wanted them to.
‘It’s okay, really.’ ’s wide grin had faded into a genuine smile and he stepped closer to take her hand between his. ‘I can see it, everyone can see it. Sweetie, just enjoy.’ He squeezed her hand and then let go and walked away, leaving her standing in the hall.
Now the words on my lips are rolling right out of my mouth
oh baby give me your hand I'll take you right out of this crowd
Well enough is been said but not enough has been done
now you're screaming out loud and not because I'm doing you wrong
stood frozen for a good couple of minutes, contemplating whether to go back to her own hotel room or to knock at ’s. Just when she decided the first option would be for the best, she needed the quiet to think over ’s words, the decision was made for her.
‘What’s taking you so long, gorgeous?’ sounded ’s voice from somewhere behind her. It was enough to set the tears falling.
‘?’ As neared her and noticed the tears his voice lowered in worry, ‘Are you alright?’ His hand landed on her shoulder, gently stroking down till it ended at her hand. shrugged away, turning to face him.
‘Did you tell them?’
A look of question came over ’s face as he tried to reach out for her again with no success. She was just quick enough to step back and it felt like a stab in the heart.
‘Did I tell whom what?’ he asked, his voice going from worry to annoyance, ‘What have I done?’ ‘, he knows about us.’
As she spoke the words felt a rush of relief run trough his body. It was no longer a secret, he no longer had to pretend. But then he remembered the tears and accusing tone of ’s voice.
‘Ofcourse I didn’t tell him, that’s what you asked of me, right? I wouldn’t betray you like that.’ he defended himself stepping once again closer, ‘, you gotta trust me honey, I didn’t tell him anything, I swear.’ He watched the woman before him shake her head and all sort of emotions ran over her face. Yet when she looked back up and he got hold of her eyes, he knew they’d be okay. One step closer he took and this time she allowed him to pull her into his body. Soothingly he let his hands run over her back.
‘You didn’t tell anyone.’ sighed against his chest and stayed silent for a moment. A moment too long or so it appeared when pulled back her head and looked up at him with question in her eyes, ‘Right?’
Nervously ran his hand over his neck and took a deep breath. ‘Well... Okay, I’ve got to be honest with you.’ he then admitted. He held tightly with one arm, letting the hand on the other stroke her face. ‘Remember when my mum came to see the show about four weeks ago?’
He could clearly feel the rapid thumping of her heart and saw her nod slowly. He bit his lip softly before he continued, ‘She came to see me backstage after the show and the first thing she did was give me a tight hug while whispering how happy she was for me.’
‘Happy?’ whispered and nodded.
‘Happy. She told me you were perfect for me, she really enjoyed the talk you two had earlier that day and she hoped this would work out for both of us.’ said, remembering vividly the smile on his mothers lips and the glint in her eyes when she spoke her words.
‘I never told her we were seeing each other, how would she know?’ said, also remembering her talk with . She had enjoyed the talk as much as had but she had been very careful in choosing her words when talking to her. She didn’t want to lie to her incase her relationship with did work as well as she hoped it would, but she also didn’t want to set ideas into his mothers mind. She looked up at ’s face to see a soft smile on his lips and she couldn’t help but press a light kiss to them. immediately took the opportunity to kiss her back and it wasn’t till she pulled back that she got an explanation.
‘She could see it, . She could see the chemistry between us both backstage as onstage when we danced. Let’s face it, gorgeous. We might think we’re doing a good job at keeping our relationship a secret, I think those around us might not be as clue-less we hoped they’d be.’
‘As clue-less as I hoped they’d be. You wouldn’t mind if the whole world knew right?’ whispered, pressing her head back against his chest as everything being said between them sank down.
‘No, I wouldn’t. The whole world can know I love you, .’ admitted, making look up at him. Their eyes locked and she leaned in to kiss him again, deeper this time. When she pulled back there was a cheeky glint to be seen and felt his heart skip a beat. He watched as pulled away from him and grabbed his hand tightly. Before he knew it, she pulled him trough the hallway towards the nearest door in sight, which she pounded at loudly.
‘What the hell are you doing?’ he asked in wonder, making her look back at him. The glint in her eyes told him everything and he shook his head laughing, ‘We’re never going to survive this, they’ll kill us really.’ shrugged, turning back to the door as it opened. A sleepy head appeared in which she recognized .
‘We’re in love.’ she stated before could utter a word. She pressed another kiss to ’s lips and then pulled him along, leaving standing in the doorway, gobsmacked. At the next door she knocked loudly again and this time laughed out loud.
‘You’re insane.’ he said happily, a wide grin now permanently settled on his lips.
‘Oh, you bet I am.’ winked cheekily before calling out another, ‘We’re in love.’ to a sleepy that answered the door. Quickly she pulled along, ‘Wait till we get to your room, I’ll show you just how insane I really am.’
pulled her in for another relieved kiss. This was it, this was what he’d been hoping for all along. And now that he had it, he knew it would be even better then he could’ve ever imagined it.
Oooh cause I always see your sunshine,
it keeps on following me
Not a cloud in the sky
cause you're always right next to me
I'll do you no wrong maybe I should just let it be
cause I know you're gonna have
your wicked way with me
your wicked way with me
THE END
